History:

Pelican Bay was developed by Westinghouse in 1980 on 2,104 acres and was one of the first communities in the area to adhere to environmental laws designed to protect at risk eco-systems (Pelican Marsh and Bonita Bay were similarly developed).  Located to the north of Park Shore between Pine Ridge Road and Tamiami Trail and Vanderbilt Beach and between The Naples Grand Beach Resort and the Ritz Carlton Beach Resort.  Pelican Bay real estate features multiple amenities:  two private beach side restaurants and pavilions, the Pelican Bay golf course - a 27 hole private golf course designed by Arthur Hills (private, equity owned, 530 max members), a private beach club (Bay Colony has it's own beach club), great shopping and dining at Waterside Shops, Artis Naples for cultural pursuits, an active tennis program, community and fitness center featuring meeting rooms, catering kitchen, art studio, computer center, tennis pro shop and a fully staffed fitness center with spa plus group fitness classes, massage therapy and personal training. The Pelican Bay private beach pavilions directly on the Gulf, with restaurants and the tram transportation system is a huge draw for Pelican Bay - all residents take advantage of this wonderful amenity. The two Pelican Bay beach pavilions - the Sand Bar (at the southern boardwalk) and the Marker 36 (northern boardwalk) both feature food service, open/covered decks, changing rooms, showers, and bathrooms. Beach chairs, cabanas, and umbrellas are also available. Located at the south end of the beach, the Picnic Pod includes picnic tables and gas grills.  All Pelican Bay facilities are exclusive to residents and their guests. The two Pelican Bay tennis facilities, Commons Park (with two hard surface courts and 8 Har-Tru courts) and Hammock Oak Park (8 Har-Tru courts equipped with lights) are popular with the residents and lessons are available. The four onsite Pelican Bay parks - The Commons, Hammock Oak Park, Oakmont Park and Ridgewood Park each feature their own amenities.

The most upscale community within the development at Pelican Bay is Bay Colony, a gated enclave just south of the Ritz Carlton Beach Resort. Bay Colony homes feature multimillion-dollar neighborhoods of estate homes, villas and condominiums and offers increased privacy as well as amenities including exclusive membership in the Bay Colony Beach Club and Tennis Club, concierge service and optional membership at the Estates at Bay Colony Golf Course.
