Naples has been named the unofficial golf capital of the US.  The term equity golf is best described as the purchase of a residence and a separate membership to the golf club at an additional initiation fee, that is not deeded to the property.  Most "serious" golfers - people looking to play more than three times a week, prefer the equity golf structure because of the lower club membership cap.  During the off-season, most major clubs offer reciprocity with other courses. 

The elements of equity golf include:
- A one time membership fee when you buy a residence. Typically, a smaller member cap vs bundled golf.  Most equity courses have a maximum of 300 memberships per 18 holes (or less).  This allows for the most play for members at reasonable tee times and no Chelsea (point) system
- Yearly dues paid to the club.
-There may be a waiting list to sell your membership (separately when you sell your property).

The disadvantages of a equity golf membership include:
- Higher upfront costs via an initiation fee
